Jamila Woods @ The Metro
A little over a week ago, on November 22nd, Jamila Woods put on a stunning show for Chicago at The Metro. J Bambii, who hosted the show, introduced the show as BLK Wednesday: a unique opportunity for the crowd to celebrate their African American culture.
Jamila had several artists perform before she came out. The first artist to take the stage was Tasha, who first shared a beautiful poem and then several of her original songs. Midway through her set, Tasha brought out her brother to perform by her side. Next to take the stage was Jean Deaux, who also put on a beautiful performance. Midway through her opening act, she brought out Chicago’s very own west side rapper, Saba, as a special guest.
At last, Jamila took the stage! Performing several songs from her 2017 album, HEAVN, such as LSD, Holy, and VRY BLK. Jamila put the audience in a state of complete awe with her poetic lyrics and angelic voice. It was truly a night to remember! If you haven’t heard Jamila before, please check her out on all music platforms!
